Our Story
About us
Like all good ideas, this one kept us up at night. The concept was simple but not easy: we wanted a workspace purpose-built for good people to achieve incredible things — right here on Cape Ann.
My name is Nate. Gloucester is my hometown. To understand how Wheelhouse Cowork came to be, you have to meet my inspiration: my wife, Katie. She’s an art therapist who built her practice from the ground up here in Gloucester, and I supported her every step of the way.
For thirteen years, I worked at a healthcare research firm. I loved my team and my job, but I hated losing hours of my day to the brutal commute into Boston. I tried working from home, but like so many others, I found it distracting. In crowded coffee shops, packed train cars, and dusty libraries, I met great people — all struggling with the same thing.
So I started asking questions.
What if we worked where we lived? Not in our homes, but in the heart of our local community, just a few minutes away. What if we had guaranteed charging stations and didn’t need to worry about leaving our laptops for a moment? What if there was a soundproof room for important calls, and what if we surrounded ourselves with interesting people doing meaningful work - people who inspire new ideas and new possibilities?
After countless late-night conversations, Katie offered her insights, encouragement, and unwavering support. And with that, Wheelhouse Cowork was born — a bright, flexible workspace designed for remote workers, small businesses, creatives, and anyone who wants a professional place to focus and connect right here on Cape Ann.
Those sleepless nights turned out to be good training. We now have two beautiful children, Ava and our youngest, Arlo, and we’re happily navigating the joyful chaos of parenting. You’ll usually find me near the coffee. Come say hi - I’d love to show you around.
